Resin: from ml to grams to cost
Slicers like Chitubox and Lychee report resin in ml, but resin is sold by weight. Standard resins weigh about 1.1 g per ml, so a 1 kg bottle holds about 900 ml.
Resin (ml) = model ml × copies × (1 + supports & waste %)
Weight (g) = ml × density (≈ 1.10 g/ml)
Cost = grams ÷ bottle grams × bottle price
How to use less resin
- Hollow solid models with 1.5–2.5 mm walls and add drain holes.
- Use light supports where possible and orient to reduce cross-section.
- Stir and filter the vat instead of throwing leftover resin away.
