Where to start

Selling prints? Use the print cost calculator first, then the selling price calculator to add marketplace fees and your margin.

New printer or new extruder? Calibrate E-steps once, then flow for each filament, then check your volumetric flow before printing fast.

Printing miniatures or terrain? The miniature scale calculator converts real sizes to 28 mm, 32 mm or any 1:X scale.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to 3D print?

Most small PLA parts cost $0.50–$3 in filament and electricity. A 1 kg spool at $20 is 2 cents per gram, and a typical printer uses about $0.02 of electricity per hour.

How many meters of filament are on a 1 kg spool?

About 335 m of 1.75 mm PLA, 327 m of PETG and 400 m of ABS.

Which calibration should I do first?

E-steps (extruder) first, then flow rate for each filament, then temperature and retraction.
